Belongs to 1955 batch of MBBS in Madras Medical college. Recipient of gold medals in Anatomy, Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and gynecology

Did M.S.General surgery  ( 1963 )and M.Ch Paeditric surgery (1969)form Madras Medical College.

Joined the Govt service and was assistant Professor surgery in

Thanjavur Medical college from 65 to 69 .

From 1969 to 1975 was in the department of Pediatric surgery Institute

of child health with Prof M.S.Ramakrishnan. In 1973 when there was an

epidemic of renal failure and death in more than thirty children, in the

institute of child health Madras a house to house search revealed that the

deaths were due consumption of Paracetamol syrup called PIPmol C

where the solvent was highly nephrotoxic diethelyne glycol instead of

propelyne glygol and further tragedy was averted. Published in the Hindu

Started the Department of paediatric surgery in Coimbatore in 1975 and

was the professor till 1993. The Department is now a post graduate

institute in super specialty and is the first of its kind in Coimbatore.

Started the department of Pediatric surgery in PSG hospital in 1993 and

was Hon Professor till Dr.Pavai took over.

 

Past President of the Indian Association of pediatric surgeons (IAPS

)Recipient of Dr. R.K.Ghandhi gold medal and Dr. Sogani Gold medal

from IAPS, recipient of Life time achievment award 2020 from IAPS.

Awarded life time achievement award in AAPS conference in

Kualalumpur in 2010. Life time achievement award from Rotary

 

Conducted three national conferences in Coimbatore in 1983 and in 1998

and 2014. In 1998 For the first time the 3 minute presentation was

introduced and also for the first time a lap workshop for children was

conducted with Dr,Hock Llim Tan.

In 2005 the Yahoo groups for IAPS members was started and is now the

official site of the IAPS .Simultaneously A web site was created for IAPS

in the name of www.iapsonline.org . Efforts were taken to get the site

recognized in Google search.

The Tami Nadu state branch of IAPS was started in Coimbatore.

antibiotics.

Has written a book on disorders of sex differences.

Has published online book on Case snippets and Images.

Has written a chapter in Text book of Indian academy of pediatrics.

Editor and advisor to Indian journal of Paediatric surgery

Has given several orations in different Medical forums.

Visiting professor to various universities , PGI Chandigarh, JIPMER,

Dublin Ireland.AIIMS etc and examiner for Post graduate courses in

Pediatric surgery. Examiner in DNB, MCh in different universities

including overseas examinations.

Was a Curriculum member of national board on Paediatric surgery

Published and presented papers in various journals and forums.

Retired Consultant pediatric surgeon in G.Kuppusami Naidu Memorial

Hospital and continue teaching activities for National Board in

Pediatrics and M.Ch Paediatric surgery and other continuing medical

teaching activities in pediatric surgery throughout India.
